Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago: In commemoration of World Asthma Day, the Thoracic Medical Unit at the NCRHA (North Central Regional Health Authority) of Trinidad and Tobago organized a public health education booth at the Main Lobby of the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex. The aim of this initiative was to raise awareness about asthma and provide valuable information to the public.
The booth covered various important topics related to asthma. One of the key areas of focus was the effects of asthma on the body. Visitors to the booth learned about how this respiratory condition impacts individuals and the challenges it presents in daily life. Management and treatment of asthma were also discussed, with attendees receiving guidance on how to effectively control and mitigate the symptoms of the disease.
Another crucial topic covered at the booth was the proper usage of inhalers. As inhalers are a common method of administering medication for asthma, it was essential for individuals to understand the correct techniques for using them. The booth provided practical demonstrations and instructions to ensure that people were equipped with the knowledge to use their inhalers effectively.
The discussion also delved into the symptoms and potential triggers of asthma. By identifying the signs of an asthma attack and understanding the factors that can exacerbate the condition, individuals were empowered to take preventive measures and make informed choices in their daily lives.
The NCRHA has outlined that the theme for this year’s World Asthma Day was “Asthma Care for All.” This theme highlights the importance of ensuring that everyone, regardless of their background or circumstances, has access to proper asthma care and education. By championing this initiative, the members of the Thoracic Medical Unit at the NCRHA demonstrated their commitment to promoting equitable healthcare and empowering communities.
Further, the North Central Regional Health Authority extended heartfelt thank you to the dedicated members of the Thoracic Medical Unit at the NCRHA for their efforts in organizing this event. “A special thank you to members of the Thoracic Medical Unit, NCRHA for championing this initiative to ensure our communities have the knowledge to live happier, healthier lives,” it stated through its official social media post.
