St Kitts and Nevis: PM Terrance Drew receives courtesy call from PAHO Representative Amalia Del Riego

Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew, received a courtesy call from the PAHO/WHO Representative for Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean – Dr Amalia Del Riego and Country Programme Specialist for St Kitts and Nevis – Anneke Wilson on March 7, 2023 (Tuesday).

The update regarding the same was shared by the government of the nation, informing that the meeting was also attended by some of the ministers of twin-island federation. The post by the administration stated, “The meeting was also attended by Dr Sharon Archibald, Permanent Secretary in the Health Ministry, and Dr Hazel Laws, Chief Medical Officer.”

The government of St Kitts and Nevis also informed that the day culminated with a visit to the Joseph N France General Hospital for the Unveiling of the Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative Plaque, the Official handover of the PCR Machine, and a tour of the Mental Health Treatment Centre.

Furthermore, it informed that following the meeting with the Prime Minister, the Representative of PAHO/WHO for Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean countries visited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to present her Letter of Credentials to Dr Denzil Llewellyn Douglas, Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Dr Douglas expressed his pleasure towards the representative on his social media. The post by the Foreign Minister read, “On Tuesday, March 7, I met with Dr Amalia Del Riego of PAHO, the WHO Representative for Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean.”

Earlier, Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew attended the 30th Pan American Sanitary Conference of PAHO, the 74th Session of the Regional Committee of WHO (World Health Organization) for The Americas, which was held from the 26th-30th September 2022. The Conference was held in Washington DC, USA. It is worth mentioning that PM Dr Drew has attained a medical degree and is a doctor by profession who has a specialization in Internal Medicine.
