Kingstown: The Sandals opened its 18th Resort in St Vincent and the Grenadines in a private ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday. The inauguration ceremony was attended by many government officials, Sandals board of members, guests and resort team members. The ribbon represented the island’s flag and lush surroundings.
The Executive Chairman of Sandals Resorts International, Adam Stewart, expressed his delight at the opening of the hotel’s 18th chain. He called his achievement as crucial part of the development of their brand.
Noting this, he said that Sandals is the only Caribbean-born commercial super brand that is recognized across the globe, including the United States, Canada, and Europe.
“This is a multi-generational work started many years ago by my extraordinary father Gordon ‘Butch’ Stewart and Prime Minister Gonsalves. They thought very hard about flying the Vinci flag not only here but on all the islands of the Caribbean where Sandals operates. Little did we know that 43 years later the Sandals brand would grow from a 99-room hotel in Montego Bay to a top 500 brand in the world, recognized worldwide as a super brand. The only commercial super brand born in the Caribbean, with over 84% brand penetration and recognition in the United States, Europe and Canada”, added Stewart.
The emergence of Sandals will eventually increase the airlift in the island, which will directly boost the tourism of the country. According to the information, the resort is expected to welcome approximately 300 top travel advisors across the world, with some largest group of international travel professionals in St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG).
The Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves stated that in COVID, there was an increase in the unemployment and decline in the economy of the country. During that tough phase, Sandals extended its helping hand with a proposal to recruit Vincentians in its resort.
For such efforts, PM Gonsalves expressed his gratefulness to Sandals for their constant support and partnership.
Additionally, Sandals SVG consists a huge and luxurious 301 rooms and suites around 50 lush-laden acres of land. The resort includes the red lane spa, signature love nest butler suites, premium wines, aqua centers, free access to Wi-Fi, Gourmet speciality restaurants and a destination for a customizable wedding.
