Nevis ships around 2550 tons of aggregates to St Martin

The Nevis Housing and Land Development Corporation (NHLDC) shipped around 2550 tons of aggregates to St Martin via Atlantis. This shipment is anticipated to play a huge role in improving the foreign exchange reserves for the island nation, resulting in enhancing its economic stability and development.

As per the details, this shipment of aggregates was conducted on Thursday, 3rd October, 2024, with a vision to open doors to several to economic opportunities for Nevis and all the stakeholders involved in the process.

While sharing glimpses of the process, Alexis Jeffers, Deputy Premier and Minister of Natural Resources of Nevis stated that this shipment would have created financial returns for the NHLDC, Truckers, Fuel Suppliers, NASPA, Inland Revenue and all other entities that were involved.

Jeffers further added that he has always been a firm believer and hold the view that they as an island must seek out every opportunity to export some commodity or commodities on these boats that can bring cargo to their shores.

He added that this increased shipping activities would later play a huge role in creating job opportunities in logistics, transportation and other sectors, addressing the unemployment gap in the country contributing to the overall economic development.

He further added that it would also play a crucial role in enhancing business for the boat operators, the shippers and the island of Nevis which would result in stimulating the local economy, generating revenues for the island nation.

“This translates into good business for the boat operators, the shippers and the island of Nevis,” noted Deputy Premier, Alexis Jeffers.

Moreover, he also extended congratulations to Eric Evelyn, the Minister of Culture of Nevis and his team at the NHLDC for pursuing all avenues to ensure that they derive some needed foreign exchange for their efforts.

Notably, Nevis Housing and Land Development Corporation is a Statutory Body which was established in 1984 with a vision to provide service of the highest quality in the development, and sale of lands in order to construct affordable houses, which are sound and economical.
