Nevis: NIA announces April 27 as public half-holiday on island

St Kitts and Nevis: The Office of the Premier in the Nevis Island Administration (NIA) recently urged for a public holiday following the death of the former Premier of Nevis – Vance Amory.
On April 20, 2022, the Deputy Governor-General of Nevis, Hyleeta Liburd, OBE, MH, acting on the advice of the Cabinet of the Nevis Island Administration, has announced that April 27, 2022 (Wednesday) would be marked as a public half-holiday on the island of Nevis from 12:00 noon.
On the same day, the occasion of the 2022 Gulf Insurance Inter-Primary Schools Championship sports meet.
On April 20, 2022 (Wednesday), the dead body of one of the most beloved leaders – Vance Amory, reached St Kitts and Nevis, where Prime Minister Dr Timothy Harris led his Cabinet colleagues and other Members of Parliament at the Military Reception for the body of former Premier of Nevis, Ambassador Vance Amory, at the RLB International Airport.
In accordance with the notice shared by the Governor-General of St Kitts and Nevis – SW Tapley Seaton GCMG, CVO, QC, JP, LLD, the Mourning Period will be observed from April 20, 2022 (Wednesday) to April 30, 2022 (Saturday), both day inclusive.
During the Official Mourning Period, the flags in St Kitts and Nevis would be flown at the half-mast to pay respect to the Amory.
On April 02, 2022 (Saturday), Vance Amory passed away in London, the United Kingdom, where he was receiving medical treatment for Cancer.
