Jamaica’s athlete Shericka Jackson clinches spot in Laureus World Sports Awards
Jamaica’s sprinter, Shericka Jackson has achieved another significant milestone as she has been nominated for the prestigious honour of Laureus Sports Woman of the Year.

Kingston, Jamaica: Jamaica’s sprinter, Shericka Jackson has achieved another significant milestone as she has been nominated for the prestigious honour of Laureus Sports Woman of the Year.
Laureus World Sports Awards are conducted annually with the motive to acknowledge individuals and teams from the world of sports. This award ceremony is conducted with the vision to celebrate the best of sports and the power of sports to change the world.
The management committee of Laureus World Sports unveiled the nominations for the 2024 Laureus World Sports Awards on Monday, 26th February 2024. They announced the nominations in a total of eight categories at historic Casa de Correos in Madrid, the headquarters of the Presidency of the Community of Madrid, Spain.
The categories include,
- Laureus World Sportsman of the Year
- Laureus World Sportswoman of the Year
- Laureus World Team of the Year
- Laureus Sport for Good Award
- Laureus World Breakthrough of the Year
- Laureus World Comeback of the Year
- Laureus World Sportsperson of the Year with a Disability
- Laureus World Action Sportsperson of the Year
Shericka Jackson who has secured a spot in the nominees of Laureus World Sportswoman of the Year has always been very passionate about her field. She has represented her country in various international competitions and has earned many accolades.
Her recent remarkable achievement includes clinching of World Athletics Championships women’s 200m title in Budapest, Hungary in August. Along with that, she has also won silver medals in the 100m and 400m relays.
Jackson was also awarded the Sportswoman of the Year award at the 63rd RJRGLEANER Sports Foundation. She was acknowledged for her outstanding achievements in the field of athletes throughout the year.
Following her successful year, people are hoping and praying for Shericka Jackson’s victory. Also, last year the award was claimed by Jamaica’s Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce. Therefore, this has doubled the excitement as well as the nervousness among fans. Her fans are eagerly waiting for her to lift the trophy.
Moreover, six more women have been nominated alongside her. The other nominees include the Football player of Spain, Aitana Bonmati; Kenya’s athlete, Faith Kipyegon; USA’s athlete Sha’carri Richardson, USA’s Alpine Skier, Mikaela Shiffrin and Poland’s tennis player, Iga Swiatek.
Various residents of the community also took to their social media accounts and extended congratulations to the athlete for her remarkable achievements and contribution to the field of athletes.
