Jamaica: Senator and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Kamina Johnson Smith, has recently shared an update about meeting the recently appointed Minister of Trade and Tourism of Australia and Vice-Chair of MC12, Senator Don Farrell.
Kamina Johnson has been candidature for the position of the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth 2022 from Jamaica.
She took it to her social media handle to announce about the following information, “Earlier today (14th June), I met with newly appointed Minister of Trade and Tourism of #Australia and Vice-Chair of #MC12, Senator the Hon. Don Farrell Don Farrell .”
“Min. Farrell and I recalled the longstanding friendship between our countries the various areas of cooperation, particularly in sports. I commended the Government of Australia for their work to mitigate the effects of climate change, including coral reef regeneration. I look forward to further engagement with Min. Farrell,” she further added.

Australia and Jamaica established diplomatic relations in 1974.
Australia’s High Commissioner to Trinidad and Tobago has non-resident accreditation to Jamaica. Australia previously had a High Commission in Jamaica between 1974 and 1994.
Australia also maintains an Honorary Consul in Jamaica. Jamaica’s High Commissioner to Australia is resident in Tokyo, with an Honorary Consul in Sydney.
Alongside this, Australia and Jamaica are members of the Commonwealth, World Trade Organisation (WTO), International Maritime Organization (IMO) and United Nations (UN).
Jamaica is a member of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), the Association of Caribbean States (ACS), Africa, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) Group of States and other regional organisations.
It is a member of the Small Island Developing States (SIDS) grouping, including small island states in the Caribbean, Pacific and Indian Oceans.
