Jahzara Claxton named Captain of Leeward Islands U-19 Women’s team
It is a huge development for the sports sector of the island nation as the young girl of St Kitts and Nevis, Jahzara Claxton has been named as the Captain of the Leeward Islands Under-19 Women’s Team.

Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: It is a huge development for the sports sector of the island nation as the young girl of St Kitts and Nevis, Jahzara Claxton has been named as the Captain of the Leeward Islands Under-19 Women’s Team. Her election as a captain is a testament to her dedication and commitment to the development of the cricket federation of the island nation.
Jahzara is an athlete who has left a remarkable impact in the sports department of the island nation. She has also been a member of the Barbados Royal Women and West Indies Women Under-19 Cricket teams and has played some crucial innings for her teams several times.
She has also showcased her talent as a forward for Newtown United FC and the Saint Kitts and Nevis Women’s National team which also helped her earning the title of the most decorated sports personality for 2023 in St Kitts and Nevis.
This new journey of Jahzara Claxton as a Captain of the Leeward Under19 Female team in the upcoming CWI Rising Stars Women’s U19 tournament will turned out to be a huge turning point in her career. As, all the fans of Leeward Islands team is expected her to take some wise decision which results in the favour of the growth of the team and her as a player.
Along with Jahzara Claxton, 6 other under-19 Kittitian female cricketers are on the Leewards team including, Zara Skerritt, Gabrielle Harrylall, Kayzg Boyles, Aliyah Weekes, Jada Collis and Jcazenique Hodge. Notably, Jahzara will play her first game as a captain against Barbados on Thursday.
Following her selection as a captain, Minister of Foreign Affairs of St. Kitts and Nevis, Dr Denzil Douglas extended congratulations to Jahzara and expressed his confidence in her and stated that he is optimistic that she will turn out to be a great leader.
“Congratulations to our very own, Jahzara Claxton of St. Kitts, WI under 19 fast bowlers. Jahzara will lead the Female under 19 Team in their First Match on Thursday against Barbados, in the CWI Rising Stars, Women under 19 Championship,” noted Dr Denzil Douglas.
