Trinidad and Tobago: Education minister Dr Nyan Gadsby Dolly and a team of senior leaders of the Educational Ministry visited the schools of East and Central Trinidad on Tuesday (March 1, 2022).
The visit was commenced at 8 in the morning, and the team visited around sixteen (16) schools, starting from the Mt Hope Secondary School.
The minister further headed to the Caroni District. The school they visited at first was the Preysal Government Primary school, followed by a tour to Preysal Secondary. The Education Minister and her team also visited Balmain Presbyterian Primary, Couva Exchange Presbyterian Primary, Couva Exchange RC Primary, Couva East Secondary, Holy Faith Convent, Couva and California Government Primary School.
For the last leg of tour, the team led by Education Minister – Dolly, visited Waterloo Secondary School, Carapichaima ASJA Primary School, Carapichaima RC Primary, Mc Bean Presbyterian Primary, Dow Village Government Primary, Couva South Government Primary, and Couva Anglican Primary, according to the press release by the Ministry of Education.
During the visit, Dr Gadsby-Dolly and executives from MoE had a meeting with the senior dignitaries of the school and had a conversation on some common matters, including safety protocols, infrastructure, attendance schedules, etc.
The Education Minister and her team also met with the students and assured them that they would receive a good education and would remain physically fit. The minister further reassured that the Ministry had been continuously making efforts to ensure that all health, as well as safety systems, are operational for students’ education and physical wellbeing.
Concerning this, Dr Gadsby-Dolly stated, “For our school to remain open, you must take all the necessary precautions while engaging with your classmates and participating in-class activities. We will support your principals and teachers as they operate schools during these challenging times of pandemic.”
The Education Ministry stated that it would continue to monitor the operations of all schools and would visit to monitor the situation at the primary and secondary schools across the region. It further notified that these visits play a key role in fulfilling the mandate and offering much-needed support to our Principals, teachers and students.
