Dominica PM Skerrit virtually interacts with US VP Kamala Harris

Dominica: Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit has virtually interacted with the Vice-President of the United States of America – Kamala Harris, and discussed the steps to build a climate-resilient nation.

The paths to strengthen diplomatic ties, climate change, and security were discussed during the meeting.

Prime Minister Skerrit took Twitter to share the information about the latest meeting. The tweet by the PM read, “On Friday, I along with other CARICOM heads of state held virtual talks with Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris @VP. We discussed a path forward to strengthening ties, climate change, security and several other issues of concern.”

US Vice President also shared information about the discussion with the Caribbean Community – CARICOM. She stated, “Today, I will convene leaders of 15 Caribbean nations to discuss economic recovery following the COVID-19 pandemic, the climate crisis, and security. Tune in.”

She further stated that as a neighbour in the Western Hemisphere, the United States shares a common bond with the nations of the Caribbean. This afternoon I convened leaders of the Caribbean to strengthen our partnership around economic recovery, security, climate and energy.

Along with PM Skerrit, the virtual meeting was attended by other Heads of the Caribbean States. The attendees were Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda – Gaston Browne, Head of State of Bahamas – Philip Davis, Prime Minister of Barbados: Mia Mottley, Prime Minister of Belize – Johnny Briceño, Prime Minister of Dominica – Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, Prime Minister of Grenada – Keith Mitchell, President of Guyana – Irfaan Ali, Head of State of Haiti – Claude Joseph, Prime Minister of Jamaica – Andrew Holness, PM of Montserrat – Easton Taylor-Farrell, PM of Saint Kitts and Nevis – Dr Timothy Harris, Prime Minister of Saint Lucia – Philip J Pierre, Prime Minister of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines – Ralph Gonsalves, PM of Suriname: Chandrikapersad Santokh, and Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago – Dr Keith Rowley.
