Dominica: The Government of the Commonwealth of Dominica is continuing its housing programme in several communities across Dominica to uplift the lives of our citizens.
Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit visited the under-construction housing development site at the Canefield East. PM Skerrit shared an update and stated, “This morning, I led a delegation on a visit to the Canefield East housing development site where ten units are under construction.”
Prime Minister Skerrit and the government of Dominica have always worked for the betterment and upliftment of the housing sector of the country. Recently, the government of Dominica, on July 16, 2022, launched the housing project – Future Housing Programme. The details of the programme were unveiled during the handover ceremony on July 14. During the handover ceremony, Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit informed that under this new initiative, the youth of Dominica, mainly people 45 or younger, will be provided with affordable homes.
During the ceremony, Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit assured that the housing programme would benefit young professionals of Dominica, and later, it would expand to the diaspora. Furthermore, he highlighted that the government of Dominica is aware of the importance of homeownership and emphasized that it is not just putting a roof over a family.
Earlier, on July 14, the government of Dominica handed over the keys to 57 individuals under the Housing Recovery Project, initiated by the government of Dominica. The keys to the houses were handed over during a ceremony at the State House Conference Centre.
PM Skerrit took social media and stated, “Fifty-seven (57) individuals are now the proud recipients of new homes under the Government of Dominica’s Housing Recovery Project. Keys were handed over during a ceremony at the State House Conference Center on Thursday, July 14, 2022.”
