Couple robbed at gunpoint, two arrested in Trinidad and Tobago
A couple was robbed at gunpoint in the vicinity of Ann’s Fast Food, which is located at the Piarco International Airport, on Saturday at around 6:30 pm. Police authorities have arrested two men.

Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago: A couple was robbed at gunpoint in the vicinity of Ann’s Fast Food, which is located at the Piarco International Airport, on Saturday at around 6:30 pm. Police authorities have arrested two men.
The officials informed that they received information that the couple was eating food in a parked car when two armed men approached them and threatened the couple to get out of the car, forcing them to lie on the ground. After which, the armed men got into the vehicle and ran away.
The police officials immediately responded to the information and soon reached at the scene. Police officers received a tip that took them to a home along Puneette Avenue, Pinto, where the car was found.
Two men who were in that area when the authorities reached there were then taken into custody by the Police officials for further questioning. The authorities have also informed that the vehicle is expected to be examined by the crime scene investigators. No additional information has been provided by the Police officials yet.
Robbery in Trinidad and Tobago –
The data depicts that robbery was the most committed crime which was recorded by Trinidad and Tobago in the previous year, although the robberies saw a decline as compared to the year 2019. In 2020, the Caribbean island recorded a total of 1,826 robbery cases, while in the year 2019, they were 2,700.
On the other hand, motor vehicle larceny or theft cases also witnessed a decline from 613 cases in the year 2019 to 477 in 2020. At the same time, there were 2,029 cases recorded in the year 2019 of burglaries and breakings and decreased to the number of 1,511 in 2020.
In addition, a cop was injured, and two were killed in an attempted robbery in Wallerfield a week back.
