Salybia constituency will be getting brand new 40 climate-resilient homes.

Roseau, Dominica: The residents of the Salybia constituency will be getting brand new 40 climate-resilient homes, which will stand by fierce storms, hurricanes and other natural disasters. Member of Parliament for the Constituency of Salybia, Cozier Frederick, made the announcement, noting that all the workers employed in the construction of these residences are from the constituency only, including plumbers, electricians, bricklayers, and carpenters.

Following his above statement, he further highlighted that the Dominican government is working day and night for the welfare of the general public. The constituencies witnessed more opportunities around the territory of Kalinago Territory because of the housing project, he added.

Frederick stated, “The foundation work has already been finished, and workers are present laying the blocks. Over the time period of the next 6 months, we will have more than forty of those built across the neighbourhood, and there are two or three that have already been completed, so we witness the evolution of the housing product within that area”.

These houses will comprise of two bedrooms, with a kitchen and washroom, which are being built for the residents who lost their houses in the destruction caused by Hurricane Maria 2017.

Furthermore, praising the efforts of the Dominican government, Frederick stated that the district is witnessing a “housing boom” at the present time, adding, “I am so glad to be the Parl Rep and contribute to that movement to ensuring that people have a pleasant and resilient place to live“.

The residents of the constituency appreciated the efforts of the Dominica government.

In addition, the process of site clearance is underway at Center, Grand Bay, for the construction of eighty-four (84) homes for residents of Dubique and Grand Bay. Dominican Prime Minister the previous week made a visit to the construction site of the project, monitoring the ongoing works, and met the residents of the locality.

The development will include a multi-purpose community centre, church, and commercial centre, and more than 35 local contractors will be engaged in the project.
