Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority (ABTA) moves toward greater heights in its cultural diplomacy, as it is to establish a strategic partnership with the Premier Gospel Awards 2024.
Presented by Cherrie Osborne, director of tourism at ABTA, UK & Europe, the partnership celebrates the thumping sound of gospel music in the UK while bringing out the stronger connection between the twin-island nation and the United Kingdom.
The hub of this collaboration is a launch of a new category at the Premier Gospel Awards: ‘Best Worship Group’.
This new category is to focus and pay attention on the outstanding worshippers in this country, and in this year’s shortlisted nominees, there are the New Jerusalem Worship Team, KXC, Sounds of Liberty, and Tab Worship.
Each of these groups has shown not only great musical talent but also led its congregation into phenomenal spiritual experiences.
This category is now reaching its final stages through public votes that have reached a multitude of excitement. The winning group will go on an all-expenses-paid holiday to Antigua and Barbuda, a prize that unveils the twin-island nation’s show in cultural exchange and tourism.
The ABTA is to donate the luxury prize: the Harbour Island Residences in Jolly Harbour Marina, which is to provide accommodations in well-appointed two-bedroom villas while their visit to the island.
Moreover, the winner will also receive tickets to the much-anticipated Playing to Inspire Concert on April 12th, celebrating the rich musical heritage of Antigua.
It serves as a much-needed vacation but also as an opportunity to continue celebrating the powerful connection between music and faith, resonating within both the gospel community and Antigua and Barbuda’s own cultural landscape.
Outside their congregations, the impact of these nominated worship groups is huge. New Jerusalem Worship Team has worked with musicians who have also worked with BRIT Award-winning Raye.
Sounds of Liberty has worked with singers who have ministered alongside top Afrobeats artists. All these testimonials attest to the widespread impact of the UK gospel scene and the mainstream proliferation of this genre.
Colin C. James, chief executive of ABTA, said, “Faith and music form integral parts of our culture in Antigua and Barbuda, so we are indeed delighted to be partnering with the Premier Gospel Awards and celebrating the outstanding talent of the UK gospel music community. The partnership indeed reflects the shared effort to preserve and further the spiritual and artistic excellence.”
The partnership of the Premier Gospel Awards, the cultural reach of Antigua and Barbuda can be attested to the growing bond between the nations. The partnership extends far beyond tourism with shared values, faith, and music shouting it loud and clear.
The public in general, to support their favourite worship group, public voting is available at WWW.PREMIERGOSPELAWARDS.ORG.UK.
