A 70-year-old woman has given birth to a baby boy with the help of – In vitro fertilization (IVF) in India. The woman was trying hard to conceive for her entire life and gave birth to a baby boy at this age.

Delhi, India: A 70-year-old woman has given birth to a baby boy with the help of – In vitro fertilization (IVF) in India. The woman was trying hard to conceive for her entire life and gave birth to a baby boy at this age.
The Indian couple has been married for almost 45 years. Jivunben Rabari, who is 70-year-old and her husband – Maldhari, of age 75, tried to have a baby for many years before using supported reproductive technology.
While the elderly woman did not have any ID to prove her age but in conversation with the reporters, she said that her age is 70 years. The Local media outlets have also confirmed her age.
Dr Naresh Bhanushali cited that, “When they first came to us, we told them that they could not have a child at such an old age, but they insisted. They asserted that many of their family members did it as well.”
The Doctor further stated this case as a miracle and stated, “This is one of the rarest cases I have ever come across.”
The couple is not educated and is lives in the remote village of Kemora in the Indian State of Gujarat.
What is IVF?
In vitro fertilization – (IVF) is a process of fertilization where an egg is combined with sperm in vitro (in glass). This process involves – monitoring and stimulating a woman’s ovulatory process, removing an ‘ovum’ or ova (egg/eggs) from her ovaries and letting sperm fertilize them in a culture medium in a laboratory.
After the fertilized egg (zygote) undergoes embryo culture for 2 to 6 days, it is implanted in the woman or another woman’s uterus, with the intention of establishing a successful pregnancy.
IVF is a – type of supported reproductive technology utilized for infertility treatment and gestational surrogacy. A fertilized egg might be implanted into the uterus of the surrogate, and the resulting child is genetically unrelated to the surrogate.
