Dominica: The commonwealth nation has witnessed the 2nd OECS/ECCB International Netball series. On the fifth day of the tournament, the spectators witnessed thrilling and exciting games.
One of the games played on the day was between Antigua and Barbuda and St Kitts and Nevis. The match was a nail-biter as Antigua and Barbuda barely edged out St Kitts and Nevis team by three goals.
The final score was: the Antigua and Barbuda team passed the ball from the net 45 times, and St Kitts and Nevis scored 42 goals.
Two unbeaten teams knocked the horns at the court during the second match. In court 2, Barbados and St Vincent and the Grenadines played against each other.
In the first half of match, the SVG team played brilliantly and established a great lead. Three-quarters of the second game was in the bag of the team. The score was in favour of the SVG team until the final quarter, and Barbados was way back.
The scoreboard read, First-quarter 12-6; second quarter 26-15; third quarter 34-31, until the beginning of the final quarter.
In the final quarter, the game took an exciting twist. The Barbados team dealt with the pressure and prevailed to win the game – 48 to 42.
The tournament‘s last game was between the home team Dominica and St Lucia.
The first quarter was neutral as the lead was dodging between both the teams. The second half was terrible for the home team as it badly lapsed, the team considerably improved in the third quarter. But the fourth one was in the bag of St Lucia, attaining a win by 23 goals.
The final score of both the teams was – St Lucia: 43 and Dominica: 26.
Friday’s schedule:
The sixth day would be the final day of the tournament. The two matches will be between St Vincent and the Grenadines & St Lucia; and Dominica and St Kitts and Nevis.
There are expectations that the match between SKN and Dominica would attract a large crowd and would be the biggest-crown tournament.
