Jamaica: Along with 40 world leaders Prime Minister Andrew Holness invited by United States President Joe Biden in a virtual climate summit.
On Friday, the White House stated that this virtual climate meeting is Leaders Summit on Climate, which will be held on 22 and 23 April.
Along with Andrew Holness, Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, Gaston Browne is also invited to the summit.
United Kingdom Prime Minister Boris Johnson; Prime Minister of New Zealand, Jacinda Arden; Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau; President of France, Emmanuel Macron; German chancellor, Angella Merkel; President of China, Xi Jinping will attend this summit.
This summit aims to discuss the US-led Major Economies Forum on Energy and Climate’s reconvening to bring 17 countries together responsible for around 80 percent of global eruptions and global GDP.
US president Biden requested leaders to utilise the summit to highlight how their nations also will add to more substantial climate purpose.
The summit’s key themes are Galvanising attempts by the world’s major economics to reduce eruptions during this critical decade to hold a limit to warming of 1.5 degree Celsius in reach.
They are mobilizing public and private division banking to drive the net-zero transition and to support vulnerable nations to cope with climate impacts on the people.
The economic advantages of climate action, with a firm emphasis on job creation, and the significance of ensuring all alliances and workers benefit from the development to new clean energy economics.
This summit will be discussing possibilities to strengthen the capability to protect lives and livelihoods from the consequences of climate change, discuss the global security hurdles posed by climate change and the result on readiness and address the role of nature-based explications in accomplishing net-zero by 2050 intentions.
It is compelling transformational technologies that can reduce emissions and adjust to climate change while also producing enormous new economic possibilities and building future industries.
The objective is to demonstrate non-state actors committed to green recovery and an equal vision for restricting warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius.
