The United States of America recruits Barbadians for work under US Farm Labor Programme

In the United States of America, the Barbadians have been hired for work. This is being done under the new US Farm Labour Programme. In this, the hired works would get employed and might meet their personal needs.
Chief Operating Officer of the recruiting company gave the assurance of hiring to Colin Jordan, Minister of Labour and Social Partnership Relations. The recruiter met with Specialty Crop Farm Labour Contractor, based in Rochester, New York, Luis Carcamo.
Luis Carcamo to recruit 20 Barbadians came to Barbados. Out of which 8 would work in the State of New York at a vineyard in the production of grapes. The remaining 12 would work in a greenhouse that produces plants and flowers in West Virginia from January and February 2022.
He, along with Minister Jordan, acting Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Joy Semple, and Director of the Barbados Employment and Career Counselling Service (BECCS) of the Ministry, Yvette Walcott-Dennis, discussed the recruitment drive and a range of issues during a courtesy lunch, recently.
In the meeting, the Minister raised different questions that were related to the payment of salaries, complaining procedure and housings and other problems of Barbadian workers. The possibility of future employment in the US for other prospective candidates.
In response, he gave the assurance that the workers would get a good standard of the programme of housing. His company would assist workers in opening new accounts to make it easy for the workers to make transactions. They would also be responsible for other matters related to the essential necessities of the workers.
The ministers also discussed that the company would also provide the workers with the essential winter gears by the companies they would be working for. The companies would take care of the comforts of the workers during their working. They were expected to take up their positions during the height of the winter season.
