St Kitts and Nevis:Â Premier of Nevis, Mark Brantley, urged people to take the COVID-19 vaccine and then the opportunity to do their service to the nation.
COVID-19 has created hundreds of setbacks that are limiting the employment rates worldwide.
Mark Brantley stated that I listened to Dr Ralph Gonsalves, the Prime Minister of St Vincent and the Grenadines, speak recently, and he said that it’s all about “jabs and jobs” right now.”
Furthermore, he added, ” PM Gonsalves is the region’s most eloquent speaker, and that expression to me sums up perfectly where we now find ourselves in St Kitts and Nevis and the wider Caribbean.”
“Each day, I get calls and visits from persons who are not working but seeking work. We all know the government cannot absorb all those seeking employment,” he stated.
“We all know that we need our large employers like our hotels, restaurants, tour companies, and other tourism-related businesses to reopen fully. We all know we would like to end the inconvenience of quarantine,” he added.
Additionally, he stated, “We all know that we long for our island and country to be back to normal. But none of this will be possible unless we take the decision to get vaccinated. Only when enough of our people get vaccinated will we reopen our country and bring our people back to work as usual. Only then can our hotels reopen as before.”
He advised, “Only then can we travel freely without the 14-day quarantine. Yes, jobs matter, and yes, we need to get back to work, but if you really wish to see St Kitts and Nevis reopen and get back to work, please take your jab to allow yourself the best chance to get a job. Have a blessed day, everyone.”
