Dominica: Melissa Poponne-Skerrit is the wife of Prime Minister; Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit, and Parliamentary Representative extended her warm wishes on the occasion of International Women’s Day.
Melissa Poponne-Skerrit asserted Dominica is blessed with strong women who are always prepared to face battles head-on! This current war against the Covid-19 pandemic is no exception.
Furthermore, she stated, We have seen many of our Dominican women leading the fight against this virus, and for this, we remain eternally grateful. Today, on International Women’s Day, the Bureau of Gender Affairs hosted an awards ceremony to honor our women leaders who actively serve on the frontline against the Covid-19 pandemic. I salute all women who are working exceptionally hard to create a better future for us all!
“This International Women’s Day, promise yourself that you will be fearless enough to take risks, be confident, and never doubt your capabilities. We must support women’s rights and gender equality. Happy International Women’s Day,” she added.
Her beautiful message says, Dear Women, Safeguard yourselves from self-made limitations, worthless fear, and contagious coronavirus.

PM Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit stated I take the time to salute all the wonderful and hard-working women in this country. These women have selflessly led the fight against covid-19, frontline workers, policewomen, nurses, and doctors, who have made exceptional global achievements. These women avail for national service and dedicate themselves to be warriors for the country, women who work tirelessly to keep Dominica beautiful.
Dominica is honoring women by designating New Health and Wellness center’s names on the name of women. Those nurses teach humanity, and they have been honored. Nurse Stella LeBlanc and Nurse Olivia Douglas have been appreciated by the PM Skerrit and all the Dominicans.
Their selfless service is acknowledged by all citizens. Nurse LeBlanc has given several years of sterling service to the citizens of the North and, even in retirement, continues to serve her society and people in various capacities.
