PM Skerrit virtually meets Crown Prince of Bahrain, discusses bilateral ties

In this virtual meeting, PM Skerrit and HRH Prince Salman discussed finalising Diplomatic Relations between Dominica and Bahrain.

Dominica: Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit assembled a virtual Bilateral Meeting with HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy King and Deputy Supreme Commander of Bahrain, on Monday( 20,04,21).

In this virtual meeting, PM Skerrit and HRH Prince Salman discussed finalising Diplomatic Relations between Dominica and Bahrain. They explored topics of mutual interest such as Climate Change, Infrastructural Development, Tourism and Information and Technology. 

Prime Minister Skerrit told HRH Prince Salman that with “Dominica as a Bilateral Partner, Bahrain is reassured of a true friend and a friendship based on mutual trust and respect.” 

As the current Chair of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS), PM Skerrit also stated, “Bahrain is a new partner to the Caribbean, Dominica would be willing to take on the role of introducing that country to the broader Caribbean region.”

To initiate this relationship, PM Skerrit encouraged the PM of Bahrain to consider the appointment of a “Non-Resident Ambassador to CARICOM.”

HRH Salman confirmed that this meeting was the first such formal engagement Bahrain has had with any leader from the Caribbean region. 

He reemphasised the benefits of such collaboration between small states on global platforms championing affairs of mutual interest and pledged his delegation to partner with Dominica.
