Antigua and Barbuda: Caribbean News Network has reported that “Only Antigua is in the global top 20 in vaccinations per 100 people. Antigua lies 17th with 30/100 people.”
The other Caribbean islands have ranked: Dominica (25/100), Barbados (23/100), St Kitts-Nevis (20/100), St Lucia (13/100), St Vincent (11/100), Belize (8.9), Grenada (8.8/100), and Guyana (7.7/100), revealed by Caribbean News Network.
Besides this, Antigua and Barbuda’s vaccine centres have extended their opening times from 9 am to 5 pm to accommodate after-work vaccinations for persons who may not have the ability to leave work during office hours.
The Ministry of Health, Wellness & the Environment wish to commend the public for their response in recognizing the importance of being vaccinated against Covid-19 and turning out in their numbers at the Market Square on Saturday 17th April 2021 to be inoculated.
The Honourable Sir Molwyn Joseph, the health minister, hailed the event a success noting that “this mobile vaccination-drive was planned and executed within a few days, and I am extremely delighted that close to two hundred and fifty persons turned out to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.”
Sir Molwyn further declared, “The response of the two hundred and forty-four individuals who came out to be vaccinated is a clear demonstration of Antiguans and Barbudans responding to the urgent need to be vaccinated for the nation to return to normalcy.”
The success of Antigua and Barbuda’s mobile vaccination drive has influenced the Ministry to stage another mobile vaccination-drive next Saturday, 24th April 2021. The details will be disclosed in a subsequent publication, revealed by the Office of Antigua and Barbuda.
The Ministry wishes to acknowledge all Healthcare workers, Police Officers and Volunteers for going beyond the call of duty, recognizing the importance of the Covid-19 vaccination-program and assisting on the weekend.
“Each Vaccinated! All Protected!” is the Ministry’s way of demonstrating vaccination success in the nation.
Antigua and Barbuda is not just vaccinating their population but also following all protocols to induce herd immunity in the nation.
