Jamaica: Jamaica’s Government would be implementing a social housing initiative under the Housing, Opportunity, Production, and Employment Programme (HOPE).
Prime Minister of Jamaica, Andrew Holness wrote, “In November 2018, I announced that Jamaica’s Government would be implementing a social housing initiative under the Housing, Opportunity, Production, and Employment Programme (HOPE).”
Prime Minister of Jamaica Andrew Holness added, The Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation has oversight for constructing these homes.
This Programme was developed to improve the housing condition of the country’s poor and marginalized population.
The previous day, it was a great pleasure to hand over a new housing solution to a mother of two, Vanesia Reid, in St. Andrew Southern.
A total of 290 applications have been garnered from Members of Parliament across 58 constituencies.
Of the 290 applications received, 213 have been approved by the New Social Housing Project Oversight Committee (POC). It is expected that all schemes will be completed by the end of the 2020/2021 financial year.
A Facebook user commented, “While this man is trying his best to develop and move Jamaica forward, we the citizens are here tearing it down my people let’s rally behind the government, cut out crime adhere to the laws implemented to cut down the spread of Covid-19 and let’s move our little island forward.”
Another resident user commented, “Congratulations to another successful Social Housing Project. This also demonstrates that the JLP Government is a Government for all Jamaicans. This project was done in a Constituency of the Opposition Party. This is putting Jamaica first. A suh Jamaica fi run, finally it is happening, no more partisanship and politics that was played over the years….this is Jamaica time, and when it is Jamaica time, everyone wins.”
Another resident of Jamaica commented, “Greetings Mr. Prime Minister, Congratulations on the commendable job you’re doing Sir, God continued strength as you commit yourself to serve this beautiful Country of ours.”
