The crowd of young men starts gathering at the small airport in the southwestern community of Les Cayes. This all happened when the aid flight arrived on Wednesday. The waiting trucks were started getting loaded from the plane. Outfitted in military-style uniforms and posted at the airport to guard the aid shipments, fired two warnings shots to disperse a group of young men.
Early Saturday, Haiti experienced a 7.2 magnitude earthquake. Due to the Earthquake, Haiti underwent 304 casualties. Many buildings are reported to collapse due to high magnitude shakes. The disaster-plagued Caribbean nation still recovering from a devastating 2010 quake.
When Haiti experienced the shakes, the people were rushing to find safe shelter. During that time, the epicentre was to the 160 KM west of the Capital Port-au-Prince, which is densely populated.
“Lots of homes are destroyed, people are dead, and some are at the hospital,” 21-year-old Christella Saint Hilaire, who lives near the epicentre, told. “Everyone is in the street now, and the shocks keep coming.”
Similar shakes were also felt in the majority of other Caribbean islands. In the southwestern area of Haiti, due to the earthquake, schools and homes were collapsed. According to the viral photos of the incident.
On August 15, the death toll rose to 1,297 in Haiti due to the earthquake experienced a day before. According to Haiti’s Civil Protection Agency, 5,700 people have been injured badly.
Due to the shake total, 2,868 homes were destroyed, and 5,410 had undergone major damages as the aftermaths of the quake.
The Tropical Storm has badly damaged the southwestern area of Haiti Grace. As on Saturday, Haiti also experienced the hardest earthquake. The officials in Haiti reported that many regions of Haiti had received 15 inches (38 centimetres) of rain as the storm moves in the country.
