Guyana: President Ali launches Agriculture Entrepreneurship Programme
The programme will provide the capacity for the growth and development of the islands’ young individuals in the agriculture sector.

Georgetown, Guyana: President Irfaan Ali launched the Agriculture and Innovation Entrepreneurship Programme at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre (ACCC) on Tuesday, January 11, 2022. This programme will be implemented in phases, assisting in boosting the agriculture sector of the island.
With the support and the investments of the Guyanese government along with the private sector, this newly launched programme will provide the capacity for the growth and development of the islands’ young individuals in the agriculture sector.
“What will take Guyana ahead is what we are doing here. Building responsible leadership and having young individuals lead in that responsible leadership because you are the ones who will inherit this Guyana that we are looking forward to building, and you have to be a key part of building that responsible leadership”, President Ali cited during his address at the launch event.
The Head of the State outlined that in the first phase of the ACCC, young people would be forming a company and building shade homes to plant high-value crops.
While speaking on the aim of the programme, President Ali cited, the government drives to link the food security strategy of the island to the regional food security system.
He further outlined, “In order to become the agriculture food basket of the Caribbean region, we have to grow up a thousand times and to do that, we have to encourage more people to get into the direction of the agriculture while seeing a viable future from it”.
This launch event was also attended by Government Ministers, including Senior Minister within the – Office of the President with responsibility for Finance – Dr Ashni Singh and Minister of Agriculture – Zulfikar Mustapha.
Numerous representatives from the private sector were also present at the event launch of the agriculture programme, while dozens of Guyanese public also turned up.
