Roseau, Dominica: The Sports Division of the Commonwealth of Dominica shared the highlights of St Luke’s Primary School and Roosevelt Douglas Primary School kickers football match. As per the update, St Luke’s Primary School secured the 2023 National Bank of Dominica Ltd Sports Division Primary Schools Boys Division One Championship in a penalty kicks shootout on Friday, 19th May 2023, in Benjamin Park.
Reportedly, it was a hard-fought victory as they came up against the Roosevelt Douglas Primary School on home turf. Both teams played to a goalless but hard-fought first half as the defences of both teams held Strong.
St Luke’s Primary School broke the deadlock in the II half with a Beautiful strike from their captain Carlique Prevost from long range; both teams created several other opportunities but failed to convert.
While sharing the update about the match, when it appeared that St Luke’s Primary would walk away with a one-nil victory with just one minute left, Roosevelt Douglas Primary School struck. It was Heart Break and a few tears for a few players of the St Luke’s Primary School as Ezekiel Brumant, who was a constant threat for the Roosevelt Douglas Primary School, found the back of the net with a long-range effort to equalize and send the match into 10 minutes extra time after ending one all in regulation time.
Both defences held strong in extra time, so it was left to the dreaded penalty shootout to decide the Championship.
St Luke’s Primary School scored three well-taken penalties kicks while Roosevelt Douglas Primary School kickers scored their first two kicks but failed on their final spot kick to give St Luke’s Primary the coveted NBD Sports Division Primary Schools Boys Division One Football Championship by 3 goals to 2 on penalty kicks.
