Dominica PM Skerrit to participate in Heads of CARICOM meet
Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit will participate in the 33rd Inter-sessional Meeting, hosted by the Heads of the Caribbean Community – CARICOM.

Caribbean Community: Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit will participate in the 33rd Inter-sessional Meeting, hosted by the Heads of the Caribbean Community – CARICOM. The Caribbean Community will host the event in San Pedro, Belize, from March 1 2022, to March 2 2022.
The CARICOM will organise the event under the Chairmanship of the Prime Minister of Belize – John Antonio Briceño.
Reportedly, the leaders would discuss the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic across the region and recommendations to expedite recovery of regional economies, advancing the CARICOM Agri-Food Systems Agency, with emphasis on regional food and nutrition security.
The topics to be discussed also include advancing the CARICOM Single Market and Economy to help build a more resilient Community.
According to the press release, shared by CARICOM Secretariat, there are expectations that the heads would engage in the talks about the regional private sector, labour and civil society; and discuss climate change action following the recent COP-26; the security situation in the region, and the situation in Haiti.
On Tuesday, March 1, 2022, the session would be opened with feature remarks by the Secretary-General of CARICOM – Dr Carla Barneet, Outgoing CARICOM Chairman and Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda – Gaston Browne and CARICOM Chairman as well as Prime Minister of Belize –John Antonio Briceño.
This Heads meet would be first for two Assistant Secretaries-General – Ambassador Donna Forde, who heads the Foreign and Community Relations Directorate and Ambassador Wayne McCook, who heads the Single Market and External Trade Directorate.
Reportedly, the session would begin from 10 am, according to the time in Belize and will be streamed live at CARICOM’s YouTube Channel and Facebook Page.
