Caribbean Examinations Council to announce examination results in October

Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) has announced that it will declare the results in October of the examinations held in the month of June and July.

Barbados: Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) has announced that it will declare the results in October of the examinations held in the month of June and July.

CXC authorities, in a statement, cited that, “This year, the Caribbean Examinations Council, just like many other institutions, had to modify its strategy for examinations due to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.”

The statement of CXC further noted that it is working tirelessly to minimize the effect of the delays caused by the interruption of COVID-19 protocols on the logistical operations associated with the marking, grading and release of examinations results.

CXC informed that the results would be a three-tiered approach, the first to the – Ministries of Education, the second via a joint meeting with the Ministry of Education, and the third is that result to be released to candidates on or before October 15 by this year.

“Following consultation with the regional governments & other significant stakeholders from across the Caribbean region, the decision was made, and everybody agreed in the month of May 2021 to postpone the sitting of the regional examinations by a time period of two weeks so as to allow more time for candidates to prepare for their exams,” the statement of CXC added.

CXC stated that, as in the case of St Vincent and the Grenadines, there would be a two-tiered approach concerning the release of the results as the island has been impacted by a volcanic eruption earlier this year. The statement by CXC further added that this would involve the results being released to that nations’ education ministry, followed by release to candidates on or prior to October 20, 2021.

The Barbados-based examination body further asserted that “The team of CXC is in contact with the regional and international higher education institutions to communicate this timing to minimize the possibility of students being disadvantaged during the matriculation process.”

CXC was established in the year of 1972 under an agreement by the participating governments in the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).
