Barbados recognized by National Geographic in Top 25 Best Destinations of the World 2025 list
Barbados’s story of slavery has been acknowledged by National Geographic.

Barbados has emerged as one of the Top 25 Destinations recognized by National Geographic’s Global Editorial Teams in their prestigious Best of the World 2025 list. The island nation secured the 16th spot, aiming to inspire the travellers for their next trip to Barbados, as stated by NAT GEO.
The NAT GEO team acknowledged Barbados’s story of slavery and shed light on the country’s ambitious new project. The team highlighted the new Barbados Heritage District, which will open in 2025.
It is the place which has been designed by David Adjaye, the Ghanaian-British architect who is behind the National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, D.C. The authorities mentioned the Global Research Institute. They noted that this institute has access to the Barbados National Archives and a memorial with 570 timber poles.
The CEO of Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc., Andrea Franklin stated that this acknowledgement shed light on their commitment towards preserving the heart and soul of Barbados. He recognized the hard work and the efforts of each Barbadian who made several efforts in order to create and offer an authentic travel experience to all the visitors.
He added that at BTMI, they are committed to promote their world-renowned beaches, rich biodiversity as well as the vibrant culture and traditions of the island nation. The CEO stated that this prestigious acknowledgement highlights the appeal of the natural beauty, warmth of the citizens and the vibrant culture which makes Barbados the top travel destination.
Moreover, the Editor-in-chief of the National Geographic, Nathan Lump stated that BEST OF THE WORLD is an annual invitation for the travellers to get out and explore the diversity of places and experiences that the world has to offer.
He mentioned about the year 2024 and stated that it was a time of uncertainty and difficult challenges. Meanwhile, he expressed his optimism about 2025 and reminded the travellers to travel, connect with joy and hope.
