Dominica: Cricket match was held between Bangladesh and West Indies at Windsor Park Sports Stadium in Roseau on July 2 and July 3, 2022. Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit participated in the coin toss ceremony and West Indies won the toss and decided to bat first.
Prime Minister took social media and wished the team of West Indies all the best. He stated, “On Saturday, I participated in the coin toss ceremony ahead of the first game at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium in Roseau. WI All in!!”
West Indies won the match by 35 runs, the score of West Indies was 195/5, and Bangladesh was 158/6. Rovman Powell gave an excellent performance by hitting six (6) sixes in 28 balls, 61 not out and gave a target of 195 runs for 5 to chase, which was too much for Bangladesh. In the second inning, Bangladesh scored 158 for 6 wickets, and WI won by 35 runs. As per the recent statics, West Indies has been leading by 1-0 in the series of three matches.
Brandon King was an opener of the match from the team of West Indies and made 57 scores in 43 deliveries and on the other hand, captain Nicholas Pooran hit 30 runs in 34 balls. King and Pooran’s partnership contributed 74 runs in 56 balls.
Both spinners of WI, Akeal Hosein and Hayden, proved to be the most economical as their variations made it difficult for Bangladesh to enhance their batting; meanwhile, Seamers Romario Shepherd and Obed McCoy got two wickets.
In spite of an unbeaten 68 from Test captain Shakib Al Hasan, the visitors lacked urgency in their innings and scored 158 for six in reply.
Guyana National Stadium at Providence will organize the final match on the upcoming Thursday. Bangladesh needs to win the match to survive in the series and to share the honour ahead of the three-match one-day international duel at the same place.
“They bowled too many loose balls at the top, which gave them the momentum in their innings and then Rov took it away from us with an incredible inning,” said Bangladesh captain Mahmudullah.
He added, “They were not good enough with the bat either. Shakib batted really well, but we needed at least one other player to stay with him to have a chance.”
