United Airlines will fly the flights on 3 new decided routes. The flights will connect every city in the U.S. to the region of the Caribbean and Latin America. 

The flights on new routes would start from Dec. 18. United will begin Saturday-only service on the routes:

• Cleveland to Nassau, the Bahamas by Embraer 175
• Chicago O’Hare to Guatemala City, Guatemala by a Boeing 737-800
• Denver to Roatan, Honduras in a Boeing 737-800

There is a good presence of United in all the decided destinations, but this time it became special. All the cities of the U.S. have been connected to the destination mentioned above.

United would be the only carrier that would be sending direct flights from Cleveland to the Caribbean region during this winter. Whereas Frontier, Spirit and United all operated in Cancun, United would have a monopoly on the Bahamas. This would be the resumption of the carrier on the route after the last take off for the Caribbean in March 2014 after inheriting the route from Continental.

United’s new Denver route will mark the airport’s first service to Honduras, joining the airline’s existing flight to Roatan from Houston. U.A. has added flights from Denver to the Bahamas, Belize and Costa Rica.

The United would be facing tough competition on the route from Chicago to Guatemala City. American Airlines is also operating on the same route and had Chicago O’Hare as its hub. American Airlines is offering twice-weekly flights that are nonstops to the Capital of Guatemala. American Airlines is fortified in the market as it has been flying on the route since 2017.

Patrick Quayle, vice president of international network and alliances at United, said, “throughout the pandemic, Latin America has remained one of the strongest regions for United with leisure demand meeting or exceeding 2019 levels. We have been adding new flights to Mexico, the Caribbean and Central America since last summer and with today’s announcement, United will fly 20 new routes across Latin America that we did not operate in 2019 so our customers can enjoy more beaches and warmer weather.”

United would be operating 167 daily flights to the Caribbean region, Mexico and Central America. This shows a 26% capacity increase as compared to that of operation in winter during the year 2019.
