Trinidad and Tobago: PM Keith Rowley attends closing ceremony of CDA Junior Golf Programme

Trinidad and Tobago: Dr Keith Rowley, Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, attended the closing ceremony of the Chaguaramas Development Authority’s (CDA) Junior Golf Programme Intermediate Level, held at the Chaguaramas Golf Course on Friday, December 2, 2022.

Earlier this year, the programme was expanded to both primary and secondary students from the district of Carenage and its environs.

During his address, Prime Minister Rowley reflected that the game of golf teaches discipline and aids in personal development.

Dr Rowley said he was pleased “to see that you (the students) started here not being able to hold the club, not being able to strike the ball, but now I know that many of you already would have been demonstrating the talent to hold the club well, to strike the ball well and to go along the course and play the game the way it should be played and obey each rule of it.”

The Junior Golfing Programme allowed the young participants the opportunity to retain the fundamentals of the game and also instil in them the values of self-improvement techniques, etiquette, problem-solving skills, and emotional intelligence.

Minister of Planning and Development Pennelope Beckles also attended the event with PM Keith Rowley.

The government of Trinidad and Tobago is active in providing the necessary assistance to the youth, helping them to grow and shine internationally. The people of the country praised the prime minister and congratulated the participants of the programme.

While taking the comment section, one of the users wrote, “Congratulation to all students… My kids were happy to be part of the CDC golf programme,” yet another mentioned, “Excellent initiative. Let’s use the same model to expand various sporting activities in TT. Hopefully, we will be able to teach our kids to redirect negative thoughts to become successful champions instead of letting negativity control them. Great job, PM.” The third one stated, “Awesome Congratulations, young champions.”
