St Kitts Ministry of Tourism marks successful conclusion of Green Tourism Camp

St Kitts Ministry of Tourism, Civil Aviation, International Transport et al shared glimpse of the final day of the Green Tourism Camp.

Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: St Kitts Ministry of Tourism, Civil Aviation, International Transport et al shared glimpse of the final day of the Green Tourism Camp.

“It’s the final day at the Green Tourism Camp and the atmosphere is still buzzing with excitement. The winner of the recycling project were announced on the last day,” informed the ministry through social media.

The Ministry expressed that upon arrival at the Eco-Park, the children were anxious to know if Joyce Chang and Team of the Taiwan ICDF St Kitts would announce the winner. The merry bunch of campers then headed over to Belle Mont Farm Resort where the toured the grounds, ate the seasonal fruits then sat down to the impeccable dining services of the staff.

Furthermore, it outlined that the Minister of Tourism of St Kitts and Nevis, Marsha Henderson gave her remarks and encouraged the campers to continue to put into practice all that they would have learnt at Camp.

Chang with the assistance of Permanent Secretary, Tivanna Wharton announced the winners and gave out prizes. This year, over a period of 3 days, the campers collected 361.35 lbs of plastic waste, over 100 pounds more than last year, according to the Ministry.

The group that brought in the most waste amount to 126.46 lbs were awarded stationery prizes from ICDF Mission and 10 smart phones sponsored by Digicel Group St Kitts. The boy and girl who brought in the most plastic bottle was were awarded a brunch and day pass complement of Belle Mont Farm Resort. For answering questions on things they would have learnt at the Camp, 5 lucky children were given $100.00 starter saving accounts at First Federal Credit Union. Prizes from St Kitts Eco-Park, St Kitts Music Festival were also given out.

In addition to this, the Ministry extended heartfelt thanks and gratitude towards each and every participant. “We would like to thank all stakeholders and partners who joined with us to make this year’s Green Tourism Camp a success. To the campers it was a pleasure hosting and exposing you the Tourism product and to just a few of the linkages that keep the Tourism Industry going,” it said.
