Second shipment from Antigua and Barbuda of relief items sent to St. Vincent

Antigua and Barbuda: The situation of St. Vincent is worsening day by day. The volcanic eruptions have an awful impact on the people of St Vincent.

Other nations of the Caribbean like Barbados, Dominica and Trinidad and Tobago, Antigua and Barbuda are providing their full assistance to the people of St Vincent.

Moreover, Antigua and Barbuda, after delivering their first assistance, have sent their second shipment of relief items to St. Vincent.

The second shipment of relief items was transported to St. Vincent on Monday to assist residents who continue to be affected by the volcanic eruption there.

These items included water tanks, water containers, water, sheets, toiletries, baby items, chlorine, blankets and dry goods left through a Tropical Shipping container vessel on Monday night.

The National Office of Disaster-Services (NODS) is obliged to the groups and individuals who contributed towards this shipment of supplies to St. Vincent and encouraged others who wish to assist with the relief effort to contact the office.

Simultaneously, vessels transporting relief items to St. Vincent via sea must meet all border security protocols as usual.

According to disaster officials, this is a primary concern for authorities in St. Vincent.

Therefore, owners or captains of vessels must complete the necessary paperwork with an agent here in Antigua who will then cooperate with their counterpart in St. Vincent.

This is to facilitate the administration of inbound traffic to avoid unnecessary delay and guarantee adherence to local COVID-19 protocols. 

Additionally, Caribbean News Network has announced that “Only Antigua is in the worldwide top 20 in vaccinations per 100 individuals. Antigua occupies 17 th rank with 30/100 people.”

A resident of Antigua and Barbuda, Sean Buddy, stated, “Even though this pandemic NODS has also shown its commitment through the government and relevant stakeholders to continue working with St Vincent and the Grenadines. I say, “Cudos.”
