“As the Ministry of Health, now that we have taken over the management of the Comfort Bay facility, we recognize the gaps in terms of the medical equipment that is available for treatment and medical care of our elderly persons here. We are very proud to be able to hand over to the management and staff facility: one stretcher, six ripple mattresses, one adult scale, and one AED resuscitator; this is a machine that allows for resuscitation of patients; one vital sign monitor and scan and two oxygen concentrators.”

Minister for Health Moses Jn Baptiste says he looks forward to working together with the Comfort Bay Senior Citizens Home to ensure that services are improved for the elderly.

“I am hoping that the equipment which is here today will help the senior citizens and will help the staff of this facility to improve the service, to improve the conditions and eventually our elderly folk will have a much better stay at the Comfort Bay Senior Citizens Home. There are a lot of things we are doing as a ministry to ensure that the Comfort Bay Senior Citizens Home is a better place to live, to work and to ensure that it creates a high level of service to the clients, the elderly people.”

Nurse at the Comfort Bay Senior Citizens Home, Amy Jn Pierre, expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Health for the biomedical equipment and efforts to provide support towards improving care for the elderly.

“On behalf of the management of Comfort Bay, I would like to thank the Ministry of Health for demonstrating their commitment to improving elder care in Saint Lucia. The equipment will be put to good use, and we appreciate it very much; we are very happy and look forward to working with them over the years. We are on a great start.”

The donation of biomedical equipment included a stretcher, adult scale, vital sign monitor and oxygen concentrators, to name a few.
