JetBlue announces expansion of daily flights to Jamaica

Kingston, Jamaica: JetBlue airlines announced to expand the daily flights to the Caribbean island of Jamaica. The major American low-cost airline will be operating a total of 9 daily flights from the month of June this year, from John F Kennedy International Airport of the New York, the United States.

Making the announcement, the airline officials cited in a statement, “As part of our ongoing review of our network, this spring we’ll end service on 17 routes that have underperformed and transition a handful of markets to seasonal”. This will surely boost the tourism sector of the island, eventually assisting the island to recover from the devastating consequences of the COVID-19 outbreak.

Meanwhile, last week, Jamaican Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett asserted that “New York is the largest city of the US, with a massive Diaspora, too, so it is also a massive boost for the visiting friends & relatives market space, which is very helpful in spurring further economic activity across the island”.

Apart from this, the tourism minister highlighted, the Jamaican government is making sure that the visitors arriving in the island country are safe and enjoy their trip without any tension.

“Our health protocols are put in place to assure that visitors can come to the island, go to our attractions, and have an authentic Jamaican experience safely and seamlessly. Confidence in Jamaica remains strong,” the tourism minister added.

Highlighting the significance of this alliance with JetBlue, the tourism minister called the airlines the critical partner for the reviving and growing economy of the island. He further added that this expansion of the daily flights is of a real benefit to the island.

“Covered a lot of ground and reinforced the importance of the relationship between them and Jamaica and their expanding footprint, occasioned by their rapidly cementing alliance with JetBlue, a very critical partner for our country’s economy,” the tourism minister cited.
