Jamaica: Education Minister condemns sexual remarks by school principal

The Ministry of Education, Youth and Information of Jamaica has criticised a Principal of the school for the words he used while trying to dissuade the students to not indulge in sex.

Jamaica: The Ministry of Education, Youth and Information of Jamaica has criticised a Principal of the school for the words he used while trying to dissuade the students to not indulge in sex.

A video has gone viral over the internet in which the Principal is seen labelling his few male students as a – ‘two-minute boys’ and advised them to set black strings on their penises, take their minds off from the sex and focus rather on their study.

Besides this, he is seen advising the girls who are sexually active to -‘ tell di likkle drancrow” – to give them a break.

In what appeared to be a sign of – bravado, the Principal stated that he was prepared to meet the individuals preying on the young females in the Spanish Town.

The Principal in the video further cites that, “Tell him to say you was rest you lick fr**t now. For the next ten months, you a guh rest yuh likkle fr**t. Him beat up yuh front hard enough, now – yuh waah fi rest it suh yuh can concentrate on yuh exams.”

The Ministry of Education has explained the Principal as – ‘one of the nation’s most eminent principals’ but condemned the language he used and called it inappropriate to aware the students.

The Ministry asserted that “While the essence of his message is understood, we cannot – condone the generally insulting manner in which the message was conveyed.”

Following the statement, the Education Ministry added that “There are several messages to be conveyed, and the leaders should bear in mind the tone and likely impact of what is said, which may undermine the desired effect.

The schools in Jamaica have been closed face-to-face schooling until they achieves the target of herd immunity. The school term began on September 6, 2021.
