Irish woman found dead at a apartment in Barbados

Barbados: A dead body of a woman has been found in the Christ Church by the Police personnel from Hastings/Worthing Police Station. The identity has not been yet confirmed by the Police officers, although it is confirmed that the woman was an Irish national who came to visit Barbados

She was found at Dules Marisol Apartments in St Lawrence Gap, Christ Church. The Police reached the crime scene at around 9:50 pm on Friday, October 1, 2021. 

It was reported by the Police officials that the deceased was staying at the apartment with a male companion. 

While the identity of her male companion has yet not been disclosed by the Police.  

While, the Police Public Relations Officer, Acting Inspector Rodney Inniss, cited that, “Police investigations are at a sensitive stage at this time.” 

The tourism sector of the Caribbean nations, including Barbados, was severely impacted by the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak.  

Barbados is all set to officially remove England’s Queen Elizabeth II as its head of state by December.

Barbados is one of the 16 countries that still accept the Queen of England as head of state. But in nearly two months, after more than 20 years of planning, it will become the – world’s newest Republic, removing the queen as its nominal ruler. This will reduce the number of countries that the queen “rules” to 15. 

The queen’s current representative to – Barbados, Governor-General Dame Sandra Mason, will be installed December 1, 2021, as the ceremonial president of Barbados – which became an independent nation in the year 1966 after four centuries as a British colony.

Earlier, while talking to the local media house, the Prime Minister of Barbados cited that, “The time has come for us to make decisions fully on our own. It is not a divisive decision. We believe that the time has just come for us to boost the confidence of our people.”
