Five suspects arrested, two firearms and ammunition seized by Trinidad’s officials

The police of Trinidad and Tobago conducted an Operation Blue Line exercise, arresting five suspects and seizing two firearms and large quantities of ammunition on 7th December 2023.

Notable, the St James Criminal Investigation Department officers conducted an exercise between 2 am and 4:30 am on Thursday, 7th December 2023.

While conducting the exercise, two suspects, ages 24 and 20, residents of Cocorite, were apprehended with the offences of:

–         Possession of 14 rounds of ammunition.

Moreover, the officers in the North Eastern Division also conducted the exercise. The officials of the Blanchisseuse Police Station were on mobile patrol on Wednesday, 6th December 2023, at around 1 am, when they arrested

a male suspect.

As soon as the suspect saw the officers, he dropped a bag he was carrying and ran off from the area.

Subsequently, the police authorities conducted a search on the bag, which resulted in various things including:

–         One pistol loaded with ten rounds of ammunition.

–         A revolver loaded with five rounds of ammunition.

Furthermore, the exercise was conducted in the South Western Division area too. The task officers held the exercise along with the personnel of the Penal, Siparia, Fyzabad and Oropouche stations at around 9:30 pm.

During the exercise, the officials intercepted a blue Suzuki Swift motor vehicle. It is to be noted, three male occupants were present in the car.

The officials searched the car, and on searching, they found one round of ammunition.

The three suspects from the ages 37 to 50, residents of San Fernando, Moruga and Siparia, were apprehended in connection with the firearm found in their car.

Investigations are ongoing into the matter.

Moreover, a similar incident happened in the North Eastern and Eastern Divisions, where police authorities apprehended two men and seized firearms and ammunition.

The officials of the North Eastern Division conducted a search at around 10:15 pm on 2 December 2023 in the area near Real Street, San Juan. During the search, the officers stopped the vehicle and conducted a search on the vehicle and the driver.

During the search, the officers found one Amadeo Rossi firearm with five rounds of ammunition.

Meanwhile, in the Eastern Division, the officers saw many persons involved in a scuffle and when authorities interviewed one of the people involved in a scuffle and conducted a search on him, they found a .38 special revolver and five rounds of ammunition.
