Dominica: PM Roosevelt Skerrit meets with newly elected Parl Rep of Marigot Anthony Charles

Dominica: Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica and the leader of Dominica Labour Party, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, has a meeting with the elected representative for the Marigot Constituency, Anthony Charles.

PM Skerrit and the newly elected Parliamentary Representative met on the morning of Friday, December 9, 2022.

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit informed the general public of Dominica and stated, “I met with Anthony Charles, the elected representative for the Marigot Constituency, on Friday morning.”

Both leaders have cordial discussions about development plans of Charles for Marigot. During this meeting, PM Skerrit assured that the government would firmly support the ideas, plans and programmes of the independent candidate for the growth and development of the constituency.

“I intend to engage further with the independent candidates who contested the December 6 general elections as we chart the way forward for Dominica,” PM Skerrit mentioned.

The newly elected MP Charles also expressed gratitude and willingness in working with the government led by the Prime Minister. He assured that, with the continuous support of the administration, he would advance the Marigot Constituency and would work dedicatedly for the interests of the public.

Anthony Charles stated that it is an excellent step that Prime Minister Skerrit and his Government are willing to work with the opposition. “Once he works with us, we collectively will work to get the Marigot Constituency moving,” he added.

Anthony Charles was elected as the Parliamentary Representative of Marigot on the eve of December 6, 2022, following the snap general elections. Charles participated as an independent candidate. Along with him, Jesma Paul, an independent candidate from Salisbury Constituency, also bagged victory in the general elections.

As per the electoral office of Dominica, Anthony Charles won 491 (59.44%) votes.
