PM outlined, “I have received several requests for Government to consider an extension of the income tax filing and payment due date by one to two months because of the negative impact that the COVID-19 pandemic has had on individuals’ livelihoods as well as on the operations of businesses.”

The Finance Minister further stated, “The Government continued listening to the concerns and issues of the citizens and residents of Dominica and extended the filing and payment due date for the income tax return to May 31, 2022, rather than March 31, 2022, for the Income Year – January 2021 to December 2021.”

PM also took the social media platform, Twitter, to announce this extension. PM’s tweet read, “The new due date for income tax filing and payment is now May 31, 2022. Over the last 24 hours, I received several requests to consider an extension of the income tax filing and payment due date by one to two months because of the negative impact of COVID19.”

As per the leader, this time will allow the business to complete its paperwork and amass additional funds to meet its obligations.

“The infection – SARS-CoV-2 virus, has indeed caused damage to the countries worldwide, including Dominica, but we are happy that we are in a position to assist. The virus impacted every sector – Governments, Businesses, and individuals; Dominica wasn’t an exception. This measure will provide relief to the business owners,” PM Skerrit mentioned.

He continued that the Dominican Government will continue to build a resilient, sustainable economy and country.
