On March 18, 2021, Hon. Florencio Marin Jr., Minister of National Defence and Border Security, unveiled one of several infrastructural developments presently being carried out at Belize Defence Force (BDF) Headquarters at Price Barracks.

Upon assuming responsibility as Minister of National Defence and Border Security, Minister Marin’s priority was to embark on an inspection tour of all its military installations. During his tour at Price Barracks, he saw the immediate need for repairs, prompting the renovations.

The newly refurbished ablutions are equipped with a state-of-the-art solar-powered water heating system, a new toilet/sewage area, and a water reservoir system. Works continue on five other buildings, among other developments to be carried out at that installation.

In his keynote address, Minister Marin emphasized that under his watch, the welfare of the men and women of the security forces of Belize is his greatest priority.

Deputy Commandant of the BDF, Asariel Loria, in his acceptance remarks, said that this gesture of good faith by the Ministry of National Defence is well received by the men and women of the BDF.

Other functionaries present at the brief ceremony included Hon. Oscar Mira, Minister of State; Dario Tapia, Brigadier General (Retired), CEO in the Ministry; and Josephine Garbutt, administrative officer.

Moreover, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security, and Enterprise Celebrates Childhood Stimulation Month is going on and Jose Abelardo Mai, Minister of Agriculture, Food Security, and Enterprise, was the guest speaker at a handing over ceremony of gardening materials to preschools in the Orange Walk and Corozal districts.

The ceremony was part of the activities being held for Childhood Stimulation Month and took place at the Louisiana Government Preschool in Orange Walk Town.

Receiving the gardening materials were officials from the Orange Walk and Corozal District Education Centers. The gardening materials include 5,000 seeds of assorted vegetables, seed planting trays, and germination mix.

In his remarks, Minister Mai emphasized the importance of gardening and its contribution to education, not only for healthier diets but also for furthering science education and agricultural skills.
