9 people died to COVID, 359 new cases reported in Trinidad and Tobago

Port of Spain: Trinidad and Tobago health ministry has recorded a total of nine deaths along with 359 new cases of the deadliest COVID-19 virus on January 31, 2022. With the arrival of these new cases, the total count of active coronavirus cases rises to 19,841. 

The death rate and daily covid-19 infection rate has seen a decline as compared to the previous two weeks. The data was shared by the Trinidad and Tobago Ministry of Health and Wellness in the COVID update report. 

The island now holds a total of 3,404 death rates as of January 31, 2022, since the start of the p andemic. The health ministry’s report further shows a total of 111,549 confirmed COVID-19 cases had been reported by the healthcare facilities.

Out of the deceased, 6 were the ones who had multiple comorbidities, 2 had only one comorbidity, and 1 individual had no known to medical conditions. Meanwhile, on January 31, 2022, 39 COVID-19 patients got recovered and were discharged from the hospital facilities, taking the total toll of recovered people to 88,304. 

In terms of the COVID-19 tests, in total, 565,843 tests were conducted by healthcare staff, of which 250,125 were conducted at the private healthcare facilities and the remaining 315,718 were conducted at the public facilities.  

The report further shows: 

Total patients in hospital – 400

Total patients in step-down or transition facilities – 98 

Total patients in home self-isolation – 18,984  

On the other end, there are a total of 690,218 individuals who are fully immunised by taking their required number of the COVID-19 vaccine doses, and a total of 709,782 individuals are those who have received at least one jab of the WHO-approved COVID-19 vaccines, hence are partially vaccinated as of January 31, 2022, according to the data shared by the health ministry in its latest report.
