48 new COVID-19 cases registered in Barbados

34.4%population have been fully vaccinated

Barbados is having 4,789 active COVID-19 cases on the island. Out of which 48 are recently reported in the last 24 hrs. This shows the increasing positivity rate of COVID-19 in the country.

According to the COVID-19 updation report, there are 203 total Barbadians in isolation. The health department have tested 2,55,811 people, of which 4,789 were reported positive, in which 2,342 were female, and 2,447 were male. A total of 1,802 tests have been conducted in a single day.

In Barbados, 1,06,178 people received their first shot of vaccine and 93,220 have been fully vaccinated with getting 2 shots according to the present time. 34.4%population have been fully vaccinated.

The Ministry of Health and Wellness’ Immunisation Unit has advised that first doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine are available at all operating vaccination centres.

Persons have the options of the AstraZeneca, Pfizer or Sinopharm vaccines when they visit the sites. They can walk in without an appointment.

The centres which are open today, Thursday, August 26, are Harrison College, Crumpton Street, St. Michael; the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Mile-and-a-Quarter, St. Peter, and the Sharon Moravian Church Hall, Sharon, St. Thomas.

To combat COVID-19, Barbados has received 33,600 doses of Oxford Astra Zeneca vaccines under the COVAX facility from PAHO.

As Barbados received another batch of AstraZeneca vacc ines in its “arsenal” to fight the virus, Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley has disclosed that just under 2,300 people were inoculated yesterday.

On Friday, the school vaccination sites for students are Harrison College, Crumpton Street; St. Michael; St. Leonard’s Boys’ School, Richmond Gap, St. Michael; Princess Margaret Secondary School, Six Cross Roads, St. Philip; the University of the West Indies Open Campus, The Pine, St. Michael and the Sharon Moravian Church Hall, Sharon, St. Thomas.

The non-school sitesfor Fridayare Building No.2, Harbour Industrial Park, St. Michael; the Masonic Centre, Salters, St. George, and the Eunice Gibson Polyclinic, Warrens, St. Michael.  The polyclinic will operate from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 28

The school sites operating on Saturday, August 28, are the St. Leonard’s Boys’ Secondary School; the Christ Church Parish Church Hall, Church Hill, Christ Church, and the University of the West Indies Open Campus.

The non-school sites are Building No.2, Harbour Industrial Park; Winston Scott Polyclinic, Jemmotts Lane, St. Michael, and the Eunice Gibson Polyclinic.  The polyclinic will operate from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

SUNDAY, AUGUST 29

The following day, Sunday, August 29, the only operatingschool sitewill be the Alexandra School, Queen’s Street, Speightstown, St. Peter.

The non-school sites are Building No.2, Harbour Industrial Park, and the St. Philip Polyclinic, Six Cross Roads, St. Philip.
